Privacy Policy

The short version

MyJeep has no accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics and no advertising. It does not track you.

It is not, however, an offline app. The map, the place search and the jeepney routes all come from Google, so your location and what you type in the search field are sent to Google to be answered. Everything else — your saved trips, your recent trips — stays on your phone.

Location

MyJeep asks for your location only while you are using it, and only to do two things: centre the map where you are, and fill in the starting point of a trip so you do not have to type it.

When you search for a route, that starting coordinate is sent to Google's Routes API along with your destination, because working out which jeepney to take is a question only Google can answer. It is sent to compute that route and nothing else — no name, no identifier and no account travels with it, because there is no account.

You can refuse the permission. Then MyJeep cannot fill in your starting point, and you type both ends of the trip yourself; everything else works the same.

What you type

Typing a destination sends what you have typed to Google's Places API as you type it, which is what produces the suggestion list. Your current location is sent with it so nearby places rank first.

This is a search query going to a search service. It is not stored by MyJeep, not logged anywhere by us, and not attached to any profile of you.

The map

The map is the Google Maps SDK for iOS. Displaying it means your device requests map tiles from Google, which is a network request like any other and carries the usual technical details of a request, including your IP address.

Google's part in this

Google receives the requests described above and handles them under its own privacy policy, at policies.google.com/privacy, not under this one. We do not control what Google does with a request once it arrives, and we cannot see it either — we have no dashboard of your searches, because those requests go from your phone to Google directly.

MyJeep uses three Google services: the Maps SDK for iOS, the Places API and the Routes API. There are no other third-party SDKs in the app.

What stays on your phone

Trips you save and trips you have recently searched are written to the app's own storage on your device, using iOS's standard preferences store. They are not uploaded anywhere and we never see them.

That storage is covered by your iPhone's own encryption and by whatever backup you already use — an encrypted iCloud or Finder device backup includes it.

What is not here

No tracking, in the App Store's sense or any other. No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no attribution, no crash or usage analytics, no fingerprinting, no data brokers.

No account, so nothing is tied to a name, an email address or a phone number. Nothing is sold, and there is no data of yours for us to hand over on request — we do not hold any.

Deleting your data

Removing a saved trip removes it. Deleting the MyJeep app removes everything it stored on the device, saved and recent trips included. There is nothing to request, export or close, because there is no account.

Requests already answered by Google are Google's to hold; policies.google.com/privacy explains what you can do about those.

Children

MyJeep is not directed at children under 13 and knowingly collects no information from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If a future version adds anything that leaves your phone — an account, a sync, a crash reporter — this page will say so plainly before that version ships, and the App Store privacy label will change with it. Any update is posted here with a new effective date.
